How to end a research paper is not as difficult as some assume. It's usually easy, if you follow the proper steps. Of course, I'm biased here, but I'll say that I always write my first draft (or rewrite) in outline form before ever even attempting to write the main paper. That way, I've already mapped out my ideas and connections.
Now, I'll admit that I'm no dummy when it comes to outline writing. I've used a variety of different outline formats, including Microsoft word, high school students revised (which I think is the best), notes files (for school), and of course, index cards (for my e-book). But here's one thing I know: when it comes to write the paper, I can't do without an outline. Here are some tips on how to end your research paper.
How is this topic going to be written? What type of research material will be covered? For example, if you're writing an essay about the history of ancient Greece and Rome, you'll want to make sure that the topic covers this subject since ancient history is such an important part of our world today. You might also want to write an overview of this topic, giving a broad outline of how things began. Don't worry about detailing every single step; just give a general idea of how the topic began.
After you've decided on the topic of your paper, you need to map it out. What do I mean by mapping out the topic? You need to have an outline of the main points that you're planning on discussing within your paper. This should be a logical step in your research. If you start writing with an outline in hand, it won't be difficult to follow through. And if you write an outline before actually writing the paper, it will be easier to edit and rewrite what you've written.
Now that you've got your outline, it's time to write your introduction. An introduction is where you introduce yourself to the reader and give some background on your topic. It's usually written in two ways: first by giving a personal view of you and/or your work, and second by describing your work to motivate readers to read on. If your topic deals with an area that you're very familiar with, consider including this first.
How to end a research paper is often answered with a discussion of your topic and its relation to others. You should take this seriously. You shouldn't just repeat what other people have already said. Each argument you bring up in your essay should have a strong enough foundation to stand alone. You can add more detail in your conclusion if you feel the need, but don't go overboard with it.
The final part of your paper should answer the question on how to end a research paper: what should I do after I'm done? Depending on the length of your paper, this might mean looking for supplementary information, writing more of what you've already written in the beginning, or just finishing up the remainder of the work. The latter option is preferable when your paper is more of a treatise. However, even a book report or a simple blog post doesn't require the same attention to clarity and precision that end a research paper does.
As mentioned earlier, there's only one way how to end a research paper, so you'll be completely satisfied if you've written your paper and are happy with its conclusions. If you're not, see if you can find someone else to read it and get his opinion. After all, you never know how other people would have taken it. End a research paper the way you want to end it and don't be afraid to jot down any recommendations to make things easier for yourself.
